Computer Networking
Local
Area Networks (LAN)
Computers are most effective when they can communicate
with other computers. Business applications
such as sales, accounting, inventory, human
resources, customer database, etc. are most
effective when operating on a Local Area Network
(LAN). Information can be centralized for all
to access, or for only certain people to access.
Business data is more accurate when there is
only one database that can be accessed by all
users. Productivity is higher when information
can be quickly shared about projects, customers,
orders, etc.
Our team
at IntegriCom has much experience setting up
LANs in support of many business needs. As a
first step, we learn our clients’ business.
Then we understand the business needs. From
there we design a LAN that best fits the need,
increasing business productivity.
Wide
Area Networks (WAN)
All businesses need to communicate with the
outside world, and almost all need data communications
to the outside world. This is done via Wide
Area Networks (WAN). Many need data access to
vendors and/or customers. Many need access to
remote or district offices. Most need access
to the Word Wide Web or Internet.
As we examine these data and
voice communications needs, we have to ask ourselves
- what is the best way to do this? Let’s take
a district office for example; do we need a
separate database? Do we need a separate phone
system?
The answers vary depending
on the business need. When designing a WAN,
the IntegriCom team always looks closely at
the clients’ business and business need. We
have designed and implemented many WANs that
have advanced our clients’ business. With our
WAN designs, our clients have increased productivity
and saved money.
Remote
Access: Virtual Private Networks (VPN); TeleWorking
In today’s world, employees are often very mobile.
With the advent of laptop computers, tablet
PCs, Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), etc.
more is possible than ever before. Many times
our clients’ business need is that their employees
must be able to access everything remotely that
they can access when in the office. IntegriCom
is a specialist in making this happen.
There are many ways to enable
remote access for mobile employees. Virtual
Private Networks (VPN) provides data security
with encryption. Terminal services provides
low bandwidth use of an office virtual PC. Voice
over IP (VoIP) provides office telephone services
to remote areas.
Network
Security: Firewalls; VPN Concentrators
Network security is something that we all need
to be concerned about. Networks should be protected
on their perimeter by a quality properly configured
network firewall. E-mails and e-mail systems
should be protected by a quality anti-virus
system. Remote access to your network should
be enabled properly so that intruders do not
have access.
The team at IntegriCom
is very experienced in implementing firewalls,
VPN concentrators, and anti-virus systems. It
is very important to us that our clients are
well protected from network intruders.
